This beautiful mural was done by Lori Lee Webb in 1998. It is located near my house, just over the bridge on the corner of Main and Water streets.
Silverton area is blessed with much beautiful scenery, in and surrounding the town. But probably none is as stunning as the Silver Falls State Park. The park is the largest state park in Oregon. The Long trails take you to each of the 10 falls. Yes I said 10! Isn't that remarkable. This picture and also the one on the mural is of the South Fall. What you can not see by looking at the picture, is how big it is. If you look closely you can see the rail about half way down. Yes, you get to walk right under this huge fall.
In the 1930's the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps, developed the trails and this lovely lodge which now holds the concession and information.
I really could go on and on about how absolutely breath taking and fun it is to visit Silver Falls, but instead I will just link you to a place that will do it more justice http://www.salemoregon.com/silverfallsstatepark/ The hiking trails are beautiful anytime of year, but I must say, late October, early November is gorgeous with the turning of leaves.
If you have never been to this park and are in the area, it is a must see.
