Reality Check-TMI

I have gotten sloppy over the last week or so about my diet. What I mean is that I need to be very careful about what I eat, when I eat, where I eat, and how much I eat, and over the last week or so I have gradually ignored what I know I need.

This is the issue....I have had parts of my colon and rectum removed. In fact, practically all my rectum. So when I eat the wrong foods or too much, I might have real problems which keep me from doing ordinary day to day activities. I have two issues actually. One is that I should try to keep my weight down which lowers risk of recurrence and also if cancer does come back, having my weight down will increase my chance that they will find it sooner. The second issue is that I have little to no control waiting when I have to go. So if I am out somewhere and it starts up.....well it proves embarrassing. But I know what helps a bit although not the healthiest for me. I need to try to eat one small meal. High calorie and as nutritious as I can but it also needs to be low fiber. I also take metamucil and immodium every day. It is a balancing act.

Well the last week or two I have enjoyed getting back into cooking and baking. I have also been eating two or three meals a day. The foods I have been eating are peas, corn, nuts, raw veggies and banana nut bread, to name just a few. Well I am paying for it!! The last three days have been horrible. Tonight is the worst. I did a bit better with my eating today but it will take a few days to get "normal". My clothes feel like I put on a few pounds also.

The worse part is that here I am writing this because things are still bad and I can't go to sleep, and tomorrow I have an early eye appointment (leave at 6:45). I am not sure I will be able to make it. I pray that things will be better in the morning. I have been waiting for this appointment for weeks. Oh well, it's been fun unloading.

Oh you poor thing. I am really trying to watch my weight (or lose it i should say) as it sneaks on so easily. I love baking too but cant really do it as have little self control with those types of things so just avoid, avoid. Thanks for your visit to my blog and you take care, Mel xx
